There is a special place in hell for women who do not help other women.

Two of my favorites… From whoneedsfeminism’s facebook…

Why I don’t understand why people say “Well, I want equality, but I’m not a feminist.”

But…that is the same thing.

YES there are radicals who believe women superior, or that women should be separate entirely from men, but that’s a division that has happened in nearly every equality protest group through history.

YES you get separatists and radicals. But NO, not every 21st century feminist is a radical.

I am still struggling to understand how people do not get this. It seems a simple concept that not all feminists are the same.

I am not necessarily opposing or condoning either the belief of radical or more moderate feminists, but I just feel the distinction needs highlighting for some people.

The bicycle is just as good company as most husbands and, when it gets old and shabby, a woman can dispose of it and get a new one without shocking the entire community.

Nonconsensual examples:
Someone who…
- with threats, actively reduces another’s option to say no…
- takes advantage of another’s circumstances that make it too hard for them to say no…
- deceives another person into saying ‘yes’…
- drugs someone…
…is not seeking consent.

Ranai, commenter on The Pervocracy’s post “Real Consent”

Blogging this because that last line just *clicked* for me (it explains why I get so very uncomfortable hearing/reading about scenarios where both parties are enthusiastic, but consent never comes up, explicitly or implicitly) and I may have said ‘YES’ in my head so loudly that it was audible to telepathic passerby.
